Exactly one quarter of the NFL is 2-0, which hits the bell curve perfectly. It’s been a start to the season with teams swinging up and down from what we expected from the preseason, but when it comes to the highs, they’re nothing. It is what he said. Many surprises.
Now that we have two weeks in the books, it’s worth taking a look at the NFL’s undefeated teams and re-ranking them based on their Super Bowl chances this season.
There is no problem with delinquent bills this season. Josh Allen is playing the best football of his career, which is impressive considering his already impressive career, as the deep threat distraction provided by DJ Moore is opening up passing opportunities for everyone, and the improved receiving corps is paying dividends. Buffalo plays two tough opponents in the Texans and Lions, both of whom should be playoff-caliber teams this year.
The only concern now is defense. Sure, the Bills have played good teams – but they rank 28th in the NFL in points allowed, 30th against the pass and 29th in touchdowns allowed. That’s a little bit more about going forward, because Buffalo doesn’t want it to be a shootout if they can help every game this season.
However, they are now the best in the league and remain on a collision course with the Rams.
It’s a testament to Seattle’s coaching staff that this team was without Sam Darnold in both games and is still ranked second on this list. Drew Lock is doing an incredible job under center in place of Darnold, and Jackson Smith-Njigba continues to prove why he has a case to challenge Ja Marr Chase as the best receiver in the NFL.
The Seahawks remain a defensive threat that can handle anything put in front of them. Although they lost some key pieces during the season, there was no Super Bowl hangover.The ‘Hawks are currently 2nd in the league in points allowed, 1st in passing and 2nd against the run. Mike McDonald is an absolute genius, and Seattle once again looks like the elite team in the league. It’s been a relatively smooth start to the season, but we’ll know a lot more when they face the 49ers in Week 5.
Number 3: Kansas City Chiefs
A lot of people doubted Patrick Mahomes’ ability to get back on the field so quickly after injury, but he confirmed those fears in the first two weeks of the year. The addition of Kenneth Walker in the running game has been a revelation, as the Chiefs are becoming a more diverse offense and balancing that with a legitimate defense.
While many of the top teams in the league boast a great offense or a great defense, Kansas City is strong on both sides of the ball. They currently have the league’s 2nd-best offense, and are 11th in points allowed. It’s an understatement, but it’s simple math: the Chiefs are doing a fantastic job of scoring, and keeping their opponents from scoring.
Number 4: San Francisco 49ers
We’re finally seeing what the Niners are capable of when this team is healthy, and the goodness is impressive. Mike Evans is playing the same role in San Francisco that he did in Tampa Bay, which is to be the last safety net for a forced quarterback, and the comfort level between Evans and Brock Purdy is second to none this season.
As the Chiefs, the 49ers are good at everything. They are incredibly balanced on both sides of the ball, well coached and perform well on the field. After beating the jetlagged Rams and a hapless Dolphins team, we should see a little more to bolster their brilliance, but that will come when they face Seattle in Week 5. A win over the Seahawks would elevate the 49ers to become Super Bowl favorites.
Number 5: Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are who we thought we were, and that’s a good thing. It’s clear that this team is still moving on the offensive side of the ball and getting everyone on the same page is still a work in progress. You can’t blame this team for being 2-0, but nail-biting wins against the Chiefs and the Titans don’t represent the dominance this organization is capable of.
This group is now at its peak as they start to prove themselves. Playing the Bears, Rams and Jaguars over the next three weeks will help determine the story of the 2026 Eagles and whether or not they will be as good as advertised during the preseason.
No. 6: Cincinnati Bengals
This is an amazing football team. We all knew the offense would be brilliant as long as Joe Burrow and the receivers stayed healthy, but the defense from the Bengals was a lot of fun to watch. Boye Maffee has been a solid player on the defensive line and the team has been producing the most so far, and the addition of Dexter Lawrence has given them some punch.
It’ll take a little more seeing than wins over the Buccaneers and Texans, but top to bottom this looks like a team that’s actually ready to contend this year.
One of the league’s two surprises so far, the Vikings have won back-to-back games in the NFC North, the best defense we’ve seen in decades. Brian Flores is a defensive genius, and the emergence of Dallas Turner as a top-tier pass rusher has given Minnesota the edge it lacked a year ago.
The loss remains a big question mark, so they fall lower at the current level. Carson Wentz has it. Hardly He’s done the job in each of the last two weeks, and Kyler Murray’s potential impact remains a mystery. This team is riding high and finds itself in a very good position, but the offensive side of the ball needs to pick up. This team is generally dead last on offense and despite playing good opponents, they haven’t played well defensively.
The Raiders and Raiders fans are having a lot of fun right now. It’s great to see smiles on their players’ faces after years of mediocrity, and you can tell there’s a special brew. Emphasis on “brewing”, because even if Las Vegas looks good, the current location is definitely temporary.
While it’s true, you can only face the opponents in front of you, so far the Raiders have faced two teams with depth issues in the Dolphins and Chargers – who look as bad as any team in the AFC right now. If this team is easily close to .500 in 2026, it would be a remarkable achievement as the organization prepares to turn the keys on Fernando Mendoza, a target this offseason.
