Pro wrestler Cody Rhodes drew a standing ovation from the Toronto crowd Saturday when he told Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to “Go Yourself” at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event, but he received a bigger fine for an unauthorized rant during the PG-rated Netflix broadcast.
Rhodes was fined $1 million for an on-air F-bomb that made World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) violate FAA rules and common decency.
“This is bullshit,” Rhodes exclaimed after receiving the fine, a remark that cost him an additional $250,000 in “profanity fines.”
The financial penalties add insult to injury for Rhodes, who was bloodied during an attack by John Cena’s evil bald twin.
WWE apologized for the profanity on air and insisted that no one on WWE programming would do or say anything offensive again.
