Forward Sadik Bay agreed to a three-year contract extension for $55.5 million with Pelicansagents James Dunleavy and Jordan Gertler tell ESPN’s Shams Charanya (Twitter references).
According to Charanya, Bey’s extension is fully guaranteed and has an unspecified trade kicker.

Bay had an excellent season in 2025/26 after missing the entire ’24/25 campaign recovering from rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an injury he suffered in March 2024 with the Hawks. In 72 games last season, including 64 starts, the 27-year-old averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals in 31.2 minutes per game. He posted a .451/.367/.841 slash line.
Bay will receive a team-friendly $6.56 million in 2026/27 before the league’s 27/28 extension kicks in. His new deal runs through ’29/30.
The 6’8″ combo forward was one of the first additions to the draft (Bey was the 19th pick) Troy Weaver when Weaver became Detroit’s GM in 2020. Bay was traded to Atlanta in February 2023 and signed a three-year deal with the Wizards in 2024 before being dealt to the Pelicans last year.
While Weaver traded Bay to the Hawks, he was hired by the Wizards as a senior advisor just weeks before Bay signed with Washington two-plus years ago, and became the Pelicans’ senior vice president of basketball operations/general manager last May, just weeks before New Orleans traded for Bay.
The total reported value of Bay’s contract for the next four years is $62.06 million, which is very similar to the $61.6 million Nazi marshal exceed this same interval. Marshall, who will make $9.4 million this season, signed three-year, $52.2 million extension with the Mavericks in early August.
Bay offered said at his end-of-season press conference in April that he was open to a long-term stay in New Orleans, and HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported in late June, both sides were interested in working out an extension. Now a new deal has been implemented.
Only five members of the Pelicans are under contract until 2028/29: Bay, Trey Murphy III, Herbert Jonesand a 2025 lottery pick Jeremiah Strahi and Derrick Quinn.
