Gloucester have confirmed that Charlie Atkinson has signed a new contract that will keep him at Kingsholm until at least 2029.

The 24-year-old flyhalf joined the Cherry and Whites at the start of 2024 and has since established himself as their first-choice fly-half, seeing off the challenge of formerIreland international Ross Byrne, who is signed in 2025.

Atkinson enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, picking up Gloucester’s end-of-season honors after being named Coach, Player and Supporter’s Player of the Season.

His form is also internationally recognized. The former Oxford RFC player scored six England Performed and earned his first senior England cap against USA in 2025

“We are delighted to have extended Charlie’s contract here at Kingsholm,” Skivington said. “He’s someone we identified early on as a player we wanted to bring into our environment, and since joining the club he’s had to work incredibly hard for his opportunities. Over the past year, we’ve really seen that dedication pay off on the pitch.”

“It’s a real coup for us to secure Charlie’s future. There’s been a lot of interest in him, but we’re confident in the program we’ve built here and the vision of what we can achieve. It’s clear that Charlie believes he can play a big part in that as well.”

Ex Wasps standout says he is happy to continue at Kingsholm despite interest from other clubs.

“It was quite an easy decision for me to re-sign when I looked at all my options. I’m not from Gloucester but I absolutely love the lads and the fans, who have all welcomed me with open arms, so it really feels like home now.”

“Most importantly, I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment. I feel like I have a big role to play in this team and, with exciting changes to the coaching and playing group over the summer, I believe we’ll only continue to improve, both collectively and individually.”
