Two of the most iconic faces of the Divas of the Women’s Revolution era traded up online rhetoric for fists, Nikki Bella and Paige met for the first time in almost 11 years September 11th edition of “WWE SmackDown”. As the side walked and picked up the win over Paige, Bella reflected on that magical moment in Mexico City, Mexico, and how she was surprised their match didn’t happen at a premium live event (PLE).
“We were trending… ’til the next day,” the Hall of Famer noted on them “Nikki & Brie Show” podcast. โI’m just going to talk myself out of it soonโฆ but did you know that I was the most wanted female wrestler in the world? I was number two on the global Twitter timeline in Mexico, and then I was number nine in the US… Our numbers were the most talked about Friday night since SmackDown… Even though we thought we were going to have this match, so I loved this match, like… let’s keep this going… I’m all about stories, so go away… it’s so hot, right now, people are talking about, “When is it going to happen?” I love that stuff.”
While she and Paige are putting their rivalry on the backburner for now, Bella has her sights set on becoming Chelsea Green’s next in line for the WWE Women’s Interim Championship. This past Friday “Smackdown” Bella made her intentions clear that she doesn’t need a qualifying match to prove that she deserves to be the new number one contender; his veteran status already proves it.
