After achieving contract agreements with John Kanchar and Drew Eubanks on Tuesday, art Nix can’t be done bringing in free agents to compete for spots in the regular season.
According to Ian Begley of SNY.tvNew York also maintained a connection with the veterans of the protection Gabe Vincent and great people Duop Rit and James Wiseman while the team considers options to add to its 21-man preseason roster. Notably, the Knicks are working on Vincent, according to Begley’s sources.
As Begley points out, the Knicks also have three open two-way contract slots that will likely be filled in the coming weeks. It seems safe to assume one of those spots will be filled with a second-round pick Tyler Nickell. Begley also notes that Kevin McCallar Jr — who has held one of those spots in each of the last two seasons — has taken part in informal workouts with some Knicks players in recent weeks and remains a candidate to be re-signed.

- Nix security guard Jalen Brunson and his family announced the launch of Thirty Third Management Group, writes Stefan Bondi of The New York Post. The newly formed brand consultancy, which will be led by his mother Sandra and his sister Erica, will manage Brunson’s business off the court and will look to work with more athletes, with an initial focus on women’s professional sports. The company’s name is a reference to Brunson being selected 33rd overall in the 2018 draft.
- Brian Lewis of The New York Post (subscription required) looks at what impact the offseason adds Julius Randle will have in Brooklyn, writing what the veteran hitter – a three-time All-Star – will do Networks more competitive and will raise his floor in the short term, though he seems unlikely to be part of the roster long term. Sharing the primary scoring duties on offense with Randle should help going forward, Lewis adds Michael Porter Jr to be more effective after his shooting percentage dipped and his usage rate increased last season.
- Judging their moves in the offseason, ESPN’s Zach Crum awards of Networks a B-minus grade, kudos to the front office for the comeback Day’Ron Sharp on a team-friendly two-year deal, but believing the club hasn’t done much with their cap space to improve their long-term prospects. Crum goes on to say that the 2026/27 season will be decisive for the 2025 first-rounders Nolan Traore, Drake Powell, Ben Sarafand Danny Wolfwho will need to step up to be a part of Brooklyn’s future plans.
