Silva caught the vacancies
Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s flyweight title, defeating Wang by unanimous decision UFC 332 main event on Oct. 3 in Salt Lake City, extending his UFC win streak to nine and his overall streak to 15. He plans to make his first title defense in 2027.
Natalia Silva disputes Cong Wang’s eye poke claim and Dana White’s UFC 332 assessment
Speaking to Sherdog, Silva addressed several post-fight developments. In a video posted on social media after the match, Wang claimed that the poke in the eye early in the fight affected his performance. Silva challenged the Chinese flyweight’s account, insisting his hand was taped.
“I saw what he said after the fight. He said that my finger went into his eye, but his hand was closed,” said Silva. “It was not an illegal eye poke as it was portrayed online.”
He also dismissed White’s suggestion that Wang regretted his performance after re-watching the match. The Brazilian claimed that her strategy limited her opponent’s attack.
“I talked about it with my coach,” added Silva. “The champion always tells me that when I win, people criticize my opponent as if he is a bad fighter, but he is not. Our strategy is so well executed that we can impose our game plan and the opponent cannot do what he had planned.”
Former champion Shevchenko, who relinquished his title due to injury, congratulated Silva before telling him to keep the belt warm until he returns. The new 125-pound titleholder told “Bullet” to wait his turn.
“Thank you so much for watching the fight as it’s time to watch the split now,” Silva continued. “But there’s something wrong with what he said. The belt is not his, it’s mine. I waited a long time for Valentina. I was supposed to fight her, but the UFC gave me Alexa Grasso May 2025 and then they gave me Namajunas in January. Does he want to fight now? That’s good. He can just get in line.”
