None of the 10 biggest payrolls in baseball made the World Series, and half of them got swept on the way out. The Yankees, Dodgers, Astros, Red Sox and Cubs were all eliminated without winning a game in their final series. The Mets and Blue Jays spent big and missed the playoffs entirely. The Phillies, Braves and Padres avoided the broom but are watching from home like everyone else. The teams left standing are Milwaukee, Cleveland and Tampa Bay. Every fan of a big-market team is going to feel this one.
Payroll rankings and results come from the top ten payroll graphic shown. Which of these teams wasted the most money? Should the Mets or Yankees be more embarrassed? Drop your biggest disagreement in the comments. Let’s see which fanbase is the most frustrated.
