Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions Preview
The Detroit Lions will seek to end it Minnesota Vikings undefeated start to 2026 NFL season when the NFC North rivals meet Sunday at Ford Field.
Minnesota is the only undefeated team left in the league, having won its first six games, while Detroit has a 4-2 record and a chance to close the gap at the top of the division.
The Lions have once again established themselves as one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the NFL, with quarterback Jared Goff enjoying an impressive start to the campaign.
Goff has thrown for 1,788 yards and 14 touchdowns, completing 150 of his 223 pass attempts.
His association with Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to control Detroit’s offense, with the wide receiver recording 46 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns.
Jameson Williams and tight end Sam LaPorta provide additional options in the passing game, while Jahmyr Gibbs has been particularly effective down the field.
Gibbs has rushed for 620 yards and seven touchdowns on 134 carries, averaging over 4.6 yards per attempt.
Minnesota has been exceptional defensively through the first few weeks, giving up just 62 points in six games.
Kevin O’Connell’s team is allowing an average of just 10.3 points per contest, the best defensive record in the NFL.
The Vikings already have wins over division rivals Green Bay and Chicago, and another win Sunday would solidify their position atop the NFC North.
Their last win came against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, when Minnesota posted a 16-10 win to preserve their perfect record.
However, the Vikings haven’t always been convincing offensively.
Quarterback Kyler Murray completed 14 of his 24 passes for just 150 yards against Indianapolis, though he had a touchdown and avoided an interception.
Minnesota has often relied on its defense and special teams to win close games, with kicker Will Reichard converting 18 of his 19 field goal attempts this season.
Justin Jefferson remains the Vikings’ top receiving threat, but has scored just one touchdown in his last four starts after opening the campaign with two against Green Bay.
