Professional wrestling fans the world over are fascinated by the antics of the mysterious Dannhausen Curse, but very few know the man behind the face paint: Todd Menderchuk, a middle-aged trucker and former sandwich artist from Winnipeg.
Menderchuk says he came up with the idea for Dunnhausen’s character during a long overnight drive from Saskatoon to Regina, where he was delivering a truckload of milk.
“I was sleep-deprived, and it seemed ridiculous at the time,” recalled Menderchuk, 48, who had never wrestled before stepping into the ring as Dunnhausen a few years ago.
Prior to WWE, Menderczak was named the East Winnipeg Subway Sandwich Shop Employee of the Month three times; he likes short walks on the beach and strongly dislikes children, dogs and ketchup.
Unbeknownst to most wrestling fans, Menderchuk is still a trucker as his main career, and he supplements his wrestling income by driving an 18-wheeler production truck from one WWE live event to the next.
