The Motor City Machine Guns challenged FTR to a best of five series during AEW Dynamite.
FTR hit the entrance ramp on Wednesday’s show for an interview segment with Tony Schiavone. Dax Harwood called World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks out, but MCMG came out instead.
Chris Sabin started by expressing his respect for FTR and said that AEW has the greatest tag team division. He went on to say that MCMG wanted to prove they were the best by beating FTR. And with FTR finding themselves a natural contender for the Bucks, having won three out of five contests against them, they wanted to beat FTR three out of five times in a row.
Alex Shelley suggested that the series begin on the show, but Stockley Hathaway interrupted and said she didn’t believe it was a good idea to do it right away. He said he thought it was best for the streak to start at WrestleDream and the two teams shook hands to cement that.
This will be the first time MCMG will face FTR in a traditional two-on-two format, having shared the ring once at All Out 2022. FTR teamed with Wardlow to defeat the team of Jay Lethal and MCMG.
