UFC Vegas 122 dropped last night at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, which saw Brendan Allen to beat Christian Leroy Duncan through a fifth round submission (see it here) in the evening’s main event. Co-star Jai Herbert achieved a great victory Matheus Camilo in their lightweight match, however Loopy Godinez defeated Ketlen Souza in their fight by unanimous decision.
Who should he face next: Dricus du Plessis
Allen locked up his fourth straight win after suffocating Duncanfirmly securing his spot in the Top 5 at 185 lbs. As for what’s next for him, perhaps a show against the former division king, In Dricus du Plessisit’s okay. “DDP” is currently ranked #2 in the division, but his last win Kamaru Usman not enough to get him back for another title shot. He needs at least one more win to get there. On the other hand if Allen can take out the former championthen his championship dreams get one step closer. Two men has embedded beefso this fight sells itself.
Who should he face next: Rong Zhu
Herbert secured his first ever back-to-back streak in the Octagon after the defeat Matheus Camilowhich is hard to believe since he has been fighting for the promotion for six years. Still, he’s now 3-1 in his last four and will look to build on that momentum to improve his streak to three. A fight against Zhu sounds interesting as the Chinese-born fighter is also on a nice run, having won his last four fights inside the Octagon.
Who should he face next: Mizuke Inoue
A showdown against Inoue might be in order for Godinez after his win over Souza. Inoue is currently ranked 10th in the division and is coming off a big win Jacqueline Amorim last October, so he’s late for the fight. He is currently on a two-game winning streak and is 3-1 in the Octagon. Inoue hasn’t been overly active throughout his UFC career, but I’d love to see him accept a fight like this to boost his popularity, ranking and confidence. For Loopy, defeating the 10th ranked fighter in the division will help him climb that ladder even further.
Who should he face next: Felipe Lima
Fili turned back time and delivered a stunning knockout Kai Kamaka III (see it here), giving him his first win in three fights. Fili is one of the more experienced fighters in the division, so I’d love to see him paired against an up-and-coming contender in Lima to see if he maintains his keeper status or can make a big move this late in his career. Lima is 3-1 under the UFC banner and was last seen in submission Morgan Charriere just last month. Both men are exciting in their own right, so this match could provide another highlight finish.
Who should he face next: Carlos Vera
Tanzilovi exploded last night for his first win under the UFC banner with a knockout Malcolm Wellmakergiving him his third straight loss (see it here). The Russian striker could use this as a boost going forward, and a fight against the likes of Vera could be an interesting option. Vera is victorious Josias Campwho defeated Tanzilov in the game Contender series. Vera is also just 1-1 under the UFC banner, so this would be a battle between two up-and-coming contenders looking to make a name for themselves in the 135-pound weight class.
