Michael Carrick expects ‘two big games this week’ as he fights to save his job Manchester United.
Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea extended United’s winless run to nine games in all competitions and they now sit outside the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference alone.
Reports suggest Carrick has Tuesday’s Champions League game against Roma and the weekend clash with Aston Villa to turn things around, but the former England midfielder offered a positive assessment on Monday when asked to assess his personal situation.
He said: “This has no bearing on how we prepare for tomorrow’s game. We can’t wait for tomorrow’s game.
“I can’t wait for the game. That’s all I’m focused on. What happens next, happens. Whatever direction it goes in.”
