Liverpool 2-0 Brighton – Wirtz and Isak put Reds ahead early on

Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak pose Liverpool into an early lead against Brighton in a high-quality Premier League meeting at Anfield.

Germany international Wirtz saw his powerful shot deflect off the influential figure of Pascal Gross to put Andoni Iraolo’s side ahead.

Cody Gakpo was denied by a brilliant save from Bart Verbruggen as free-scoring Brighton struggled in the early stages.

And Isak doubled the lead after a great run and cross from Bradley Barcola.

The Seagulls were undone by an early injury to Ferdi Kadioglu, who had to come off after just six minutes.
