American rapper Lil Yachty is the latest celebrity to enter the world of professional wrestling head first. making his desire to be a part of WWE known during a podcast episode. In March 2026, Lil Yachty made his WWE debut as Trick Williams’ manager before his debut match against Baron Corbin on September 6 at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
In the latest issue of “Insight with Chris Van VleetLil Yachty has commented on the physical demands of professional wrestling and admits that he is not a very athletic person. He then mentioned how he botched a cross in training, saying you never forget your first shot.
“I always tell people, ‘the hardest part is crashing,’ because you have to train your body to crash. he explained, declaring that it was unnatural. “It took months and I finally got it.”
Lil Yachty said the training was grueling and for months he just had to get his body in shape and focus heavily on getting in shape because he was out of shape and on drugs when he started his journey. “I probably stopped drinking lean about five months ago, six months ago,” he admitted. “The second I heard, maybe the probability, I was like, ‘Wow, I’m serious about this,’ and I stopped drinking skinny.”
Following this confession, Lil Yachty opened up about his past with drugs, admitting that he had been on and off for about ten years. She praised Williams for inspiring her, claiming she influenced her to be a better person and take her health more seriously. “It was a long five or six months of transformation,” he said.
“I was sober for a long time because of CM Punk until I became an adult”
Even with his years of drug use, Lil Yachty’s favorite wrestler growing up was CM Punk, who has has always preached a “straight edge” lifestyle.
“In high school, I drew Xs on my arm,” Yachty claims, adding that he planned to get them tattooed on his arms but never got around to it, but does have a few pictures of himself as a teenager with Punk’s signature Xs. “I was sober for a long time because of CM Punk until I became an adult.”
Lil Yachty claimed to have lived a “straight” lifestyle growing up. Another legend from the same era that he claims to have also loved was Jeff Hardy, who unfortunately battled the demons of substance abuse but was one of Punk’s biggest rivals in WWE. “I loved Shad and JTG in the 2000s. Punk was my favorite though.”
Yachty then recalled briefly meeting Punk at WrestleMania, as well as Cody Rhodes. “It’s so funny because in the world I’m a celebrity too, you know. But when I’m there, I really feel like a kid,” he added.
