Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook praised his team’s performance after the The Cherries continued their perfect start in the Europa League with a win over Sturm Graz.
The result made it two wins from two in Europe for Bournemouth, who answered Saturday’s Premier League beat Chelsea with an impressive display.
Cook was particularly pleased with the atmosphere and the way his teammates handled the occasion, describing it as a night the club could be proud of.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Cook praised the collective effort and admitted the occasion was special even before kick-off.
“I thought the performance was the best. It was a special night, you could feel that before the game, when they were lining up as players,” he said.
“The atmosphere was great. It was a top performance, we bounced back from the weekend and it was something we can be very proud of.”
Bournemouth had little time to dwell on their defeat at Stamford Bridge, with their European commitments offering an immediate opportunity to respond.
Cook believes the quick turnaround helped the team overcome that disappointment and produce a much-improved performance.
“This is positive. There are so many games in a short time,” he explained.
“If we have a bad game, we only have a couple of days to get over it and then move on to the next one and I thought the boys showed that today and they handled themselves well.
“It’s hard with a bad result to come back and do well. Everyone who played today was fantastic and it was a collective effort and a great win.”
