Lazio go three clear in Serie A as Athletic win Basque derby

Lacius they are three points advantage on top of Series A after coming from behind to beat Càller 2-1.

AC Milan’s win over Inter Milan gave Lazio the chance to establish some control in the early stages of the Scudetto race, but it looked like they might turn their backs when M’Bala Nzola grabbed an opener for the Sardinians.

But Gustav Isaksen’s curling strike drew Lazio level and Andrea Pinamonti completed the turnaround late on with a close-range header, before Adam Obert was sent off in injury time for Cagliari.

Juventus are a long way off the pace set by Lazio, but the Bianconeri returned to winning ways after their defeat at Genoa by beating Napoli 2-0.

Kerim Alajbegovic gave Juventus the lead in the 70th minute with a stunning long-range shot that flew off the post, before Napoli’s Luca Marianucci was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Jeremie Boga wrapped up Juve’s win with another sublime strike as he curled into the bottom right corner.

Lucas Da Cunha’s penalty gave fourth-placed Como a fourth straight win as they beat bottom club Venezia 1-0, and Frosinone’s surprisingly excellent start to the season continued with a 2-0 win at Torino.

And Genoa made it three wins in a row thanks to a 2-1 win at Lecce.

Athletic claim the spoils of the derby

Real Madrid moved three points clear of Barcelona at the top of LaLiga with a comfortable 3-0 win at Racing de Santander.

However, the highlight of the day in the Spanish top flight was the Basque derby, which went the way of Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic took the lead in the 14th minute when Inaki Williams timed his run perfectly to latch on to brother Nico Williams’ lofted pass, then kept his cool to lift a chipped shot past Alex Remiro.

Luka Sucic equalized for Sociedad when he fired into the bottom right corner from the edge of the box, but Athletic’s lead was restored from the penalty spot.

Nico Williams won the spot-kick when he was brought down by Jon Aramburu, and Alex Berenguer was lucky when his home penalty rolled under Remiro.

Inaki Williams saw a couple of chances to double Athletic’s lead going begging, but it didn’t matter as he held on for 2-1.

Umar Sadiq scored the only goal of the game as second-placed Valencia secured a much-needed 1-0 win at Elche, while Getafe moved out of the bottom three with a 3-1 win over Sevilla, who finished with 10 men.

Lyon and Paris FC close the gap with PSG

Lyon are third in Ligue 1 after a 2-0 win over Angers.

Ernest Nuamah opened the scoring in the 38th minute when he found the bottom left corner after Angers failed to clear their lines from a cross, and Lyon secured a win that moves them within three points of leaders Paris Saint-Germain thanks to Corentin Tolisso’s late header.

Marseille made it four wins in a row by beating Toulouse 2-0, but are four league games without a win at Monaco after a 3-1 loss to Paris FC.

Lassine Sinayoko scored twice in the first half and assisted Pablo Pagis as he made sure of the points after Folarin Balogun pulled one back as the capital club join Lyon to move within three points of PSG.
