AEW’s Coffey described signing with the promotion as a strange dream, but one that he is grateful and happy for.
Kofi, after a few days AEW debut time All In: At Wembley Stadium in London, England, he spoke “The Ariel Helwani Show” where he said he hasn’t come down from the high of the previous few days.
“Still on cloud nine,” he said. “Like I said in the press conference and I’ve been saying all day, it’s like this weird dream, right, when you see so many talented people that I’ve watched, a lot of people that I haven’t met, but then you have so many people that we’ve worked with that were there both on the roster and behind the scenes and with the crew, and everyone there is so loving. He is very excited about the show. High energy, positive vibes. It was amazing.
Coffey added that the whole experience only sunk in when he was walking home from All In. He also revealed a bit about their signing, saying that he and Austin Creed signed on the dotted line with AEW just 24 hours before debuting.
“I mean, you know you talked about it being the worst kept secret. But the funny thing is, it wasn’t really solidified and made official until 24 hours before the show,” Coffey said. “We know what everyone wanted, but it wasn’t officially official until very shortly before launch time.”
The former WWE Champion compared the few days of the run to a strange, strange dream, describing it as a positive experience. Coffey also spoke warmly about their dealings with AEWpraising how they are structured to benefit wrestlers and allow them to pursue other projects of interest.
