Tsarukyan (23-3) takes on Luffy (14-2) in a pivotal fight

Chimaev says that Tsarukyan’s grappling and grappling are on a different level than Luffy’s
According to Chimaev, Tsarukyan’s wrestling and grappling are of a higher level than his Brazilian counterpart. Former UFC middleweight champion Chimaev credits Luffy’s elite striking ability, but notes that Tsarukyan can also hold his own on the feet.
“Luffy is a top fighter, I think he’s one of the best strikers in the UFC right now,” Chimaev told Adam Zubayraev. “I think if Arman works at both levels, there will be no problems at all. Arman’s grappling and grappling level and Luffy’s are two completely different levels. Completely different. (Luffy) is very good on his feet. Arman is very good on his feet. Arman feels very confident on his feet.”
Chimaev and Tsarukyan are close friends and work together at The Training Lab under Sam Calavitta on their strength and conditioning. They have cornered each other before, with Chimaev rumored to be in Tsarukyan’s corner at UFC 331.
Tsarukyan was in contention for UFC gold last year, but was removed from the title picture after withdrawing from his maiden UFC title fight against the then lightweight champion.
