WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash discussed how the recent bout has soured his view of modern wrestling.
Nash recently spoke Vince Russo’s departure from Juggalo Championship Wrestling on him”Click this“A podcast that led to a discussion about modern wrestling and how his and Russo’s philosophies may differ from those of current wrestlers and promoters. He then delved into how the style of pro wrestling has evolved significantly since his days, which he believes has been for the worse, criticizing the recent feud between Roman Reigns and Seth Rolls.
“I think the problem is that business is getting higher and higher and psychology is getting lower and lower, and it’s like 12 minute highs. That’s it for me. I’m done,” Nash said. “I think Roman and Seth played when the ref was down and they basically no-sold each other’s finishes for five minutes. I don’t think I’m back. Like, I didn’t go back to wrestling because you can’t nuke the Hulk and then tell me in two questions that the lead can control his mind.
The match the nWo star referenced took place at SummerSlam in August, where Reigns defeated his former friend to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. As has been the case in some high-profile WWE matches in recent years, the referee was involved in the match after Reigns landed a spear. The two traded finishers throughout the match, with Rollins hitting some Pedigrees and a Stomper to no avail, while Reigns had to hit three Spears to secure the win.
While Nash was critical of the Rollins-Reigns match, he praised several other recent matches in WWE, including the match between CM Punk and Bron Breaker earlier in the year, which he called “special reservation“.
