Former WWE star Joe Gacy (now wrestling under Joseph Sawyer), suffered a nagging knee injury during his second match on Saturday’s GCW show, “The Score.”
Sawyer made two title defenses against Jeffrey John and Jazzy Young last night. When wrestling the last opponent, Sawyer took a cannonball in the corner. his knee takes most of the damage. Seconds after that disastrous blow, Sawyer rolled out of the ring, headed to the back and left the 20th Century Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio without his world championship.
Clearing the air about his abrupt exit from The Score , Sawyer shared what happened X, “To clear the air. Yes, I was hurt. No, I didn’t finish the game. I tried to get the feeling back in my knee to see if I could and unfortunately I couldn’t. Fortunately, it looks like it will see me through for a long time. So yeah, I think I’ll be fine now.”

On Sunday morning, Sawyer provided a a positive update on his status, writing “Actually walking better already this morning, thanks to everyone who reached out (I love you hand sign emoji)!”

Sawyer is coming off a very big week after hitting free agency after being released from WWE last April. He and Samuel Shaw (formerly known as WWE star/Wyatt Sicks member Dexter Loomis) made their surprise appearance; TNA Impact last Thursday, revealing themselves to be Matt and Jeff Hardy’s assailants. Both Sawyer and Shaw, now wrestling under the name Team Syx, have one each have made deals with promotion.
