Real Madrid Manager Jose Mourinho believes it will take three years to get his team playing at their best.
The Portuguese manager, who signed a three-year contract in the summer, was asked how long it would take him to achieve perfection at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“Three years. Three seasons,” Mourinho replied.
His comments came before Wednesday’s Champions League Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Yan Diomande among those competing for places.
“You are also forgetting about Brahim and Endrick. We have a lot of quality players here. For me, having a large number of players is never a problem,” he said.
The Madrid manager identified Vinicius as his most natural choice on the left wing, but stressed that several players could operate in different attacking positions.
Attention then turned to Wednesday’s trip to Greece, where Mourinho warned not to underestimate AEK Athens.
“Greece is always difficult, and Real Madrid, the king of Europe, have only managed to win once in eight visits to Greece,” he explained.
“Every opponent who sees the white shirt in front of them is very motivated.”
Mourinho added: “It’s a game where we have to be at the maximum of our concentration and preparation, and if we’re not, we won’t win.”
