Jon Jones backs up Gable Steveson after Sean Sharaf KO, describes training
The former two-division UFC champion said Steveson has returned to training. Jones pointed to other successful fighters who overcame defeat, expressing his belief that Steveson would do the same.
“Gable is doing great,” Jones told The Schmo in an interview. “I believe in Gable. I believe in the man and the person that he is. And when you think about it, all the great fighters have been knocked out and lost. I mean, GSP (George St. Pierre) vs. Matt Serra – there are just so many examples. He’s in the right headroom. He’s right back to training.”
Jones identified increased sparring as one planned adaptation.
“I feel as a team we need to add a lot more sparring and we have our little things we can work on as a team, but he’s in great hands,” added Jones. “He has great mentors and a great team, and we believe he will bounce back in an amazing way.”
