AEW play-by-play commentator Jim Ross has dealt with a number of health issues in recent years, but this past June was one of his toughest battles, when he had: 27 days in hospital after brain surgery. Ross also suffered a setback the day before AEW Double or Nothing, breaking both of his fingers before undergoing brain surgery, but now that he’s spent the entire summer rehabbing, the WWE Hall of Famer looks to return to the broadcast table.
On Sunday, September 26, AEW All Out comes to the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, which will also 20 minutes from WWE x AAA Worlds Collide at Allstate Arena. We will see the main event of All Out John Moxley challenges Will Osprey for the AEW World Title, a meeting that Ross hopes to attend.
“Yeah, man. If I keep improving at the rate I am now. It will be in the cards. No doubt about it. Because it’s a direct flight from OKC to Chicago. I’m not flying to London,” he said. “Grilling JR”. “Two hours. And it’s a pretty short flight for me. But I’ve made it very known that I want to get back to helping out at some of the main events as soon as I can travel better. As far as looking at the game, interpreting what I see and expressing it, I can do that now. But they’re worried about me falling, and they want me to fall even more.”
Ross went on to explain that AEW President Tony Khan doesn’t expect him to be at All Out, but wants him there if he’s healthy enough. He also praised Khan for his support throughout his recovery, insisting that he never had a negative call with the promoter.
