Jim Harbaugh dismissed a question about the Chargers potentially trading defensive end Khalil Mack before next week’s deadline.
“I want Khalil Mack here,” Harbaugh said. “Khalil Mack wants to be here. He’s one of the pillars of our team.”
Harbaugh said he’s not even thinking about the Nov. 10 trade deadline and is instead looking to get ready to play the Texans this week. Harbaugh said general manager Joe Hortiz and assistant general manager Chad Alexander may look at the trade, but he is not.
“I’m focused on the Texans. I know Joe, Chad, our organization is always looking to improve the team,” Harbaugh said. “I’m focused on getting him back, moving forward, trying in every way to play winning football.”
The 0-7 Chargers are the only winless team in the NFL and at this point there is no trade that could make them a playoff contender in 2026. So whether Harbaugh is thinking about it or not, it appears the Chargers will be willing to trade a player on their roster for a draft pick if they receive a good offer next week.
