One of the NFL’s longest, strangest streaks is finally over.
The New York Jets have an interception.
Last season, Aaron Glenn’s defense became the first in league history to go the season without an interception. His inability to generate a changeup has led to thousands of movie breakdowns, and even found its way into the Los Angeles Chargers’ annual schedule release video.
Three weeks into the 2026 NFL season, the Jets still wanted that interception. They looked like they had their first INT against the Chicago Bears early in Week 4 on Sunday, but that turnover was taken off the board due to a defensive penalty.
Finally, early in the second quarter, the Jets broke that streak:
It was none other than Patriots safety Minkah Fitzpatrick who got in front of this Tyson Bagent pass for the Jets’ first interception of over 600 pass attempts.
When was the last time New York’s defense caught an interception? That came late in the 2024 NFL season when the Jets picked off Tyler Huntley twice in a win over the Miami Dolphins. Ashtyn Davis had both interceptions on a January afternoon for the Jets.
And now, after 20 games, they finally have another interception.
