The Titans released linebacker Jordan Elliott on Tuesday after an incident at the team facility. An argument with teammate JC Latham last Thursday led to Elliott pulling a gun from his car.
Latham discussed the incident on Wednesday.
“It was just an unfortunate situation“It was the heat of the moment,” Latham said via Terry McCormick of titaninsider.com. I don’t really have much to say about it. . . . There was never any bad blood between the two of us. We were here during the summer getting treatment. Before that, we hung out whenever we were in the same city together. We never actually had an argument leading up to it.
“So I actually think mental health is extremely important, and this is just one of those situations where you just pray for a guy like that.”
Elliott was dealing with personal matters, according to McCormick, when he left the locker room in the players’ garage. Teammate John Franklin-Myers chased after Elliott and defused the situation, forcing Elliott to drop the gun, McCormick reports.
Latham was grateful to Franklin-Myers.
“I told him I appreciate it,” Latham said. “I was still on the field, apparently, … so I told him how much I appreciated it.”
