Jack Draper will be sidelined from tennis for the rest of the year as he rules out returning before 2027 | Tennis News

Jack Draper has ruled himself out for the rest of the year.

In an emotional Instagram post, Draper said he won’t be able to play again until 2027.

“I don’t usually like words here, but I wanted to let you know that I’m aiming to return to the tournament in early 2027,” Draper said.

“Last summer all the dedication and work I had put into the sport was coming together. Everything was going my way and the path seemed so clear.

“However a complicated injury made things incredibly challenging and since then I’ve been desperately trying to get back and feel like I used to on the pitch. Managing so many changes, adversity and pain has helped me grow massively in many areas of my life, but it’s also left me feeling a level of exhaustion.”

Annabel Croft and Ryan Harrison say they feel for Jack Draper as he battles the ongoing injury hurdles, with the Brit trying to build consistency and string together a consistent run of games on the pitch.

He added: “I’m using this time to reset and heal so when I come back I’m 100% ready to go.

“Tennis is my goal and my passion and so when I step on the court, I want to make sure that nothing gets in the way of where I want to go.”

“I really appreciate all the continued support from my sponsors and the people who enjoy following my tennis and I can’t wait to get back on the court to give it my all next year.”

Draper was unable to enter this year’s US Open as he continued to struggle with a bone bruise in his dominant left arm.

The former world No. 4, who has not played in a Grand Slam this year, said he was in a “tough spot” after his first-round loss to Martin Landaluce at the Cincinnati Open in August, admitting he was struggling to escape the mental fatigue that had built up during his 15-month battle with serious injuries.
