October 2 – Ivan Toney pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The 30-year-old England striker appeared in person at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning, wearing a shirt and tie under a dark jumper. He spoke only to confirm his plea and to choose to have the case go to Crown court.
District Judge Briony Clarke granted him unconditional bail. His next appearance is at Southwark Crown Court on October 29.
The charge, laid in August, relates to an incident at a Soho nightclub on Wardour Street on December 6, 2025. Toney was arrested the following day and bailed while police investigated.
At the time of the indictment, his spokesman said: “Ivan acknowledges the allegation and, while naturally shocked, hopes to be given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”
Toney went to the World Cup this summer, coming on in stoppage time against Argentina and starting the third-place win over France for his 10th cap. He joined Al Ahli in 2024 after scoring 72 goals in 141 games for Brentford.
