England forward Ivan Tony has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a man in a central London nightclub.
The 30-year-old appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he denied a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Toney is accused of headbutting and punching Saber Da Silva during an incident at a Soho nightclub on December 6.
The case was due to be heard at the magistrates’ court, but Toney chose to try the matter at the Crown Court before a judge and jury.
The striker was released on unconditional bail and is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on October 29.
Toney’s career in England
Toney has won 10 caps for England and was part of the squad that reached the finals of Euro 2024.
The striker began his professional career with Northampton before spells with Wigan Athletic and Peterborough United.
He joined Brentford in 2020 and established himself as one of the The Premier League leading forwards during his time in West London.
Toney later moved to Saudi Arabia and currently plays for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.
