September 21: Miami will host the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, the world governing body confirmed on Sunday.
Miami will host the semifinals, final and bronze medal game of the competition. With a capacity of 26,700 spectators, the NU Stadium of Inter Miami will serve as its headquarters. This summer, the Florida city hosted World Cup matches, including the quarter-finals between England and Norway. Miami was also a host city during the 32-team 2025 Club World Cup.
Jill Ellis, FIFA Director of Football, said: “The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup was created with one clear ambition: to give the world’s best clubs the opportunity to compete on the world stage every year. After an incredible first edition that featured an unforgettable final in London, we are now bringing the world’s best clubs to Miami.”
Iñigo Aznar, chief revenue officer of Inter Miami CF and Nu Stadium, added: “Our vision is to build on the momentum we’ve built in South Florida and establish Miami and Nu Stadium as one of the world’s great arenas for sports and entertainment.”
Mexico’s Club América Femenil and Spain’s FC Barcelona have already secured their participation in the Women’s Champions Cup, a tournament that brings together the six continental club champions.
The Asian champions will face the top team from Oceania in the first round with the winners heading into a second round match against the African champions. The winners of the second round face the Concacaf champions in the first semi-final. In the second matchup, Europe and South America face each other.
Earlier this year, Arsenal won the inaugural edition on home soil, defeating South American champions Corinthians 1-0 in front of 25,031 fans at the Emirates Stadium.
