If there was one wrestler that fans absolutely did not expect to announce that they had signed a Legends contract with WWE, it would be Deathmatch icon Necro Butcher. However, that’s exactly what happened to Necro, real name Dylan Summers Facebook to confirm the news.
He wrote: “I signed a Major Legends contract with WWE. In fact, the offer came the day after I got off work. The timing was ridiculous. The door is now open for various projects that have already been discussed. But I’m taking things slow. What does this say about my career? A man who never worked there. But he certainly won’t work and still miss my schedule. I am ready to apologize, both for myself and for my fans.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider WWE sources later followed up, confirming that Necro had indeed signed what is commonly known within the company as a “nostalgia agreement.” Necro was recently back in the spotlight thanks to VICE’s The Dark Side of the Ring where his 2005 match with Samoa Joe received its own episode and is considered one of the best matches in the history of the independent circuit. The episode also detailed Necro’s battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which would leave him confined to a wheelchair in 2020, but that battle would be one he would eventually win, as a year later Necro announced on social media that he was cancer-free.
