‘I wouldn’t take that risk’ – Ex UFC champ thinks Tom Aspinall is done

Demetrious Johnson might be the best when it comes to creative fighters. He is very active and his production values have dropped. He is also very good at flashy titles and curious thumbnails.

He recently used his skills to present his thoughts on Tom Aspinall vacates the UFC heavyweight title. In his video titled It is truly tragic… Johnson bemoaned the fact that Aspinall – one of the best heavyweights we’ve seen in the sport – may never fight again because of the mistakes made in the sport. hands Cyril Gane’s fingers.

The former UFC flyweight champion gave his opinion on whether he thinks we’ll ever see Aspinall compete again.

“Logically, deep down; I would say no,” he said. “I wouldn’t risk the possibility of losing my sight and not seeing my children. He could lose one (eye). I think of the worst case scenario.”

Johnson went on to say that he thought the fight camp alone posed plenty of danger to Aspinall.

“When it comes to training, that eye is always involved,” Johnson said. “You can scratch it. (You can) get another eye in practice. Another poke in your eye in a fight. Is he willing to take that risk? I wouldn’t take that risk, but Tom probably has bigger balls than I do. And I’m fine with that.”

If Aspinall were to make a competitive return, Johnson warned that opponents could try to target his well-known and highly exposed injury.

“Let’s say he’s fighting someone and someone says, ‘I’m going to target this mother-king’s eye,’ what legally can they do; he could lose his eye,” Johnson said. “Even with his cells regenerating and all, his eye is now a vulnerable target that I’d shoot the hell out of if I fought Tom Aspinall.”

“I pop this eye all the time,” he continued.

Johnson also said it was admirable for Aspinall to give up his title to avoid holding onto the division. Given that Dana White recently discussed the removal of Aspinall due to inaction one has to wonder if Aspinall jumped on the decision or was pushed.

With Aspinall relinquishing his belt, that means Gane – the man who caused those horrific injuries – is our new heavyweight champion. It must sting.
