“He said he was going to kill the dog, calling it a mask, and nobody said anything,” Silva said YouTube (via MMA fight). “When I got up and started barking at him, all of a sudden there were 20 videos saying I tried to punch him in the face. If you go back and watch my fights, when guys go down half-conscious and give up, I’m never going to go after them. Westin Wilson was right in front of me (at UFC Vegas 84). I could have taken his head off, that’s how many judges I asked and asked the referee. I’m going to continue, so I elbowed him in the ribs to keep from hitting him in the head.
“You really think I would slap a guy on the ground? Oh, but you did it with Diego (Lopes). Man, it’s different,” Silva continued. “He insulted my team. Until I’m dead, I’ll protect my people. Right there, when I went to bark at (Delgado), he turned around with everything he had, the ref pushed me, I slipped and it felt like my hand was in his face.”
Silva, 29, improved to 18-3 with the win and could be in the running for the next 145-pound title. It all depends on whether an ad would be interested in entertaining the idea or not that “Funky” featherweight title eliminator.
