The Hurricanes called six times Super Rugby Pacific champion Bryn Hall to support Cameron Roigard for the 2027 season, signing the former Crusaders and Blues halfback on a one-year deal.
Hall, who made 123 Super Rugby appearances, returns to the competition after spells with Shizuoka Blue Revs and Kubota Spears.
The experienced half-back won the title in each of his six seasons at the Crusaders between 2017 and 2022 and helped North Harbour compete as one of the top Hilux NPC teams in 2026.
Hall represented the Maori All black people on eight occasions and earned a call-up to the 2018 All Blacks wider squad during the Test against Japan. The 34-year-old also captained the Junior All Blacks in the 2012 World Cup final.
Hall said this was another great opportunity to contribute to the Super Rugby Pacific environment.
“I’m really excited to get started Wellington to join the Hurricanes next season,” Hall said in a Hurricanes media release.
“I’ve loved the way the club have played this year with their attacking brand of football. I can’t wait to be a part of it and look forward to contributing in any way I can.”
Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw said the club was excited to add depth at halfback and was impressed with Hall’s quality during this season’s Hilux NPC competition.
“With space at half-back, we felt there was room for experience there alongside our younger nines,” explained Laidlaw.
“We actually looked at Bryn a few years ago, but he ended up going back to Japan. For him to join us now to compete for a starting role and give that experience to our younger halfbacks will really add to the team.”
“Everyone can see how well he played for an outstanding North Harbor team. He’s really playing well. His hitting, distribution and all-around game was super solid at NPC.”
“We’re really looking forward to bringing him in, not only to play well and compete well, but to share his experiences at the club with both players and coaches. We’re really excited to have him join us and add to our depth in that position.”
Hall will join the defending Pacific Super Rugby champions in their 2027 title defense, which begins on Saturday, February 13 against the Blues in Auckland.
