Earlier tonight (Saturday, October 31, 2026) on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) live from inside the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Canelo Alvarez proved that Christian Mbilli had won the WBC super middleweight title.
Saturday’s main event clash between Canelo and Mbilli wasn’t the biggest boxing match of the year, but it still gave fight fans another chance to see the legendary Mexican star compete. Remember, Canelo is no spring chicken. The 36-year-old legend has been fighting at the highest level for the past 15 years and is undoubtedly at the tail end of his storied career. Any chance fans get to see Canelo in action counts as a win.
Standing in Canelo’s way back to the middleweight division was Mbilli, who is a younger and bigger fighter. The undefeated French champion was looking to prove he was one of the best in the game, defend his WBC super middleweight title in the process and add a massive name like Canelo to his boxing mantle. However, that is much easier said than done as Canelo remains one of the hardest yards in boxing.
While Mbilli had his moments in this fight, it was another classic performance from Canelo. His shot selection, aggression and overall in-ring experience were generally too much for Mbilli. Canelo also complained about several shots to the back of the head, so that likely knocked Mbill out of the match.
In the end, Canelo did more than enough over 12 rounds to capture the unanimous decision victory.
