Head coach Dave Rennie and captain Dave Rennie hailed Jordie Barrett’s performance in the 50-19 win over the Wallabies at Eden Park.
Barrett’s physicality was on display as he made a game-high three dominating tackles and a team-high 16 tackles, perfectly timing a penalty kick on Ben Donaldson’s fly after a high tackle.
Barrett added 12 carries on offense with one line break, but it was the defense that left its mark on the night.
Rennie said his No.12 took his game “to another level”
“He’s was phenomenal everything year,” said head coach Dave Rennie.
“Extraordinary in South africa, and I only think about it he is taking this the game that others level. That’s it it is no only the skill set, but he is Got a massive engine, and I means, his physicality, you know, the offence, and yes, I thought he was excellent again tonight.
“He Got a a little bit of a hematoma, he wasn’t really for sure how a long time he would the last one after semi-time. But he was in condition that run that off, and that was nice that replace it with Fr 10 that go.”
Captain Codie Taylor was equally impressed with what Barrett brings every week and said he is in the conversation for the best in the world at the position.
Prostitute believed the 12th could even play in the loose forwards if needed.
“He could probably to have a 6, 7, 8, he his back and he wouldn’t have a look out of place,” Taylor said.
“He is one of those men with his physicality. You know, he it is not was saying also a lot, but his actions he the field are the world class.
“He’s definitely earned the right that to be invited probably one of the the best 12s, if no the the best 12 in the world at the moment. Just no through only his attack and his brutality, everything that he works.
“You know, he is physical, which is everything you I want that look as a forward from you 12.”
