The Hawks requested waivers from the big man Will Bakerthe team announced today in a press release. The move opens up the second spot on Atlanta’s 21-man offseason roster as the club now has 19 players under contract.
Baker, who went undrafted in 2024 out of LSU, spent the last two seasons in the G League with the Iowa Wolves in 2024-25 and the Osceola Magic in 2025-26.
A 6’11” center, Baker averaged 9.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 18.6 minutes per game in 43 games for Orlando’s NBAGL affiliate last season. He then participated in the Orlando Las Vegas Summer League in July, averaging 8.0 ppg and 2.3 ppg in three outings. (11.4 mpg).
However, it appears Baker’s plans this fall are to join the Hawks’ G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. They are was entitled to a refund from Asceola in a four-team trade last month.
Baker was Agreement 10 with Atlanta and will receive a $91,000 bonus if he spends at least 60 days with the Hawks this fall.
