Former first round pick Keon Johnson signed with Hawksthe team said in an email.
Details of the contract have not been released, but it is likely to be Exhibition 10 deal with an invitation to training camp. That would allow Johnson to receive a bonus of up to $91,000 on top of his G League salary if he is waived and spends at least 60 days with Atlanta’s College Park Skyhawks affiliate. Johnson is not eligible for a two-way contract because he has already played four NBA seasons.
The 24-year-old shooting guard was selected by New York with the 21st pick in the 2021 draft and traded to the Clippers on draft night. He was traded to Portland midway through his rookie year and stayed there until the end of the 2022/23 season.
In the fall of 2023, he was sent to “Phoenix” in the composition Damian Lillard trade, but was waived before the start of the season. He joined Brooklyn on a two-way contract a year later and then got his first big time in 2024/25, posting 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 79 games (56 starts) on a .389/.314/.770 shooting percentage.
The Nets waived him last September and he joined the Maine Celtics of the G League, where he averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 15 games.
Atlanta has 14 players with fully guaranteed contracts Muhammed Guye with a non-guaranteed deal. The Hawks have all three of their two-way slots, plus Isaac McNeely under an Exhibit 10 contract, so they still have some roster space after adding Johnson.
