Germany failed to win for the third time in four games under Jurgen Klopp as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Greece.
Klopp’s side were unable to build on their 2-0 win over Serbia earlier this week as they once again failed to score against Greece, with Die Mannschaft finishing third in their Nations League group.
Germany faces the threat of relegation
Greece had almost taken the lead within two minutes, Giorgos Masouras’ header brilliantly saved by Jonas Urbig.
Germany had responded with sustained pressure, with Florian Wirtz and Derry Scherhant both going close before Konstantinos Tzolakis denied David Raum with an excellent save.
Germany had finally found the breakthrough through Jonathan Burkardt in the 33rd minute, but the goal was controversially ruled out after a VAR review for a hand in the build-up.
The visitors had continued to dominate possession and chances, with Scherhant, Lennart Karl and Wirtz threatening as Greece struggled to break out of their own half.
Germany gets frustrated again
Germany continued to dominate after the break, with Lennart Karl forcing a save before a collision in the Greece box saw Florian Wirtz and Elias Treu miss a long-range shot.
Greece had offered a greater threat as the half wore on, with Dinos Mavropanos heading straight at Jonas Urbig before Giorgos Masouras wasted a great chance from close range, sending a header wide.
The game had become increasingly heated, with several bookings handed out as both sides increased their physicality and Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic was also booked.
