Call it whatever era of “WWE NXT” you want, but be sure to attach the “Grayson Waller Effect” to it. After winning the NXT Championship Heat wave in August, Waller wants to bring a new attitude to the brand and its top line. The champion issues a stark warning that someone will have to strip the title because he and his reign aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“I call it the season of redemption for a reason. I listen to people. I have people watching. But now I have to do something with it,” Waller said during his interview. “Cheap heat”. “Because if I don’t do anything with this championship, if I don’t bring it back to the prestige it had before Tony D, you know, when it was back in the black and gold days, then I’ve failed…
In recent weeks, Waller has had front-row seats watching other stars such as former NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, Mason Rook, Saquon Sugars, Cruz Montana, E.K. Prosper and Keanu Carver fighting for their place in the title fight. This past Tuesday, all six men competed in a three-on-three tag team match, with Angelo, Rook and Sugars winning. However, this did not impress the champion, who said after their game that despite how impressive their moves were, each of them would end up with the same fate: a loss to Grayson Waller.
