Fight week is already in full swing in Las Vegas, Nevada WBC lightweight title fight between division king, Ryan Garciaand the British slugger, Conor Bennwho will throw down this Saturday (Sept. 12, 2026) live at T-Mobile Arena Paramount+.
But while Benn is fulfilling his media obligations, Garcia appears to have had a lackluster approach to fight week thus far. The two men were scheduled to participate in their first fight week, but “King Ry” decided to leave “The Destroyer” hanging high and dry.
“Well guys, I’m sorry Ryan did what Ryan does and bottled it up. We’ll show up, we’ll be here, ready for a confrontation,” he said. “He’s got to get his shit together because he’s in for a big, big shock on Saturday.”
“Nice relaxing time as Conor wastes time showing his face,” Garcia writes posted a picture of himself relaxing while playing an NBA video game. “You go back to the sauna, the sausage is cooked in every way,” he finished.
Although Garcia has shown himself somewhat of a loose cannon at timesthis is the first time he has missed his fight week commitments. But it seems the WBC lightweight champion wants to play mind games (again) in his first title defense against a very formidable foe. But will it cost him to come fight night?
