Tyson Fury i Anthony Joshua will face off at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 11.
The highly anticipated matchup between the two former world heavyweight champions was it was finally confirmed on Thursdaywith the pair set to hold a press conference next Wednesday.
The two Brits went through warm-up fights in July to set up a clash that would have had much more appeal years earlier. Fury defeated Mariusz Wach with a seventh-round stoppage, while Joshua survived a huge scare against Kristian Prenga.
Joshua was knocked down twice by the Albanian before stopping the little-known Prenga in the second round.
This was Joshua’s first fight since surviving a car crash in Nigeria that killed his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had made clear his preference for the fight to take place at Wembley Stadium, with the deal made with Saudi Arabian organizers to fund the fight saying it should be held in Britain and a change of venue to the United States would require reworking the contract.
However, there had been talk of the contest taking place at Madison Square Garden, where Joshua suffered a stunning loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 before winning the rematch six months later in Saudi Arabia.
Instead, it will be held in Cardiff, scene of his victories over Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker. Fury had never fought at the Principality Stadium before.
The fight is being labeled as a collaboration between Saudi boxing power Turki Alalshikh and UFC supremo Dana White.
“Two of the best heavyweights of this generation, finally in the ring together,” said Alalshikh.
“This is going to be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. I’m very happy to make this fight happen for the fans.”
Fury (36-2-1) enters the fight as the favorite, his only career losses coming at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua (30-4) also lost two title bouts to Usyk, his other loss outside of the Ruiz upset coming when Daniel Dubois was stopped in the fifth round in September 2024 at Wembley.
