It’s been a week of change in Shotzee Blackheart’s career. since he moved from MLW to TNA after appearing on the latter’s television tapings on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Blackheart, it was also a testing week in his personal life, which will affect next week’s booking. Going to X on Wednesday morning, Blackheart revealed that his brother, Dean, had died last Sunday night. Blackheart also said that now that her booking commitments for this week have been met, she will be taking time off to be with her family and “honor my brother’s memory”, announcing that she will be pulling out of the CMLL Women’s Grand Prix as a result.
“It was an honor to be selected for the CMLL Grand Prix and I don’t take the opportunity lightly,” said Blackheart. “Thank you to everyone at CMLL and the fans for understanding how difficult this has been for me.”
It was just seven months ago that Blackheart’s brother was in the news after the former MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion revealed that he had gone missing in California after being involved in a car accident. He was found and hospitalized a short time later. Blackheart credited his brother with helping him become a wrestling fan as a child, as he watched matches and played wrestling video games with him.
Blackheart is the second family loss in five years. losing his father in 2021. At this point, it’s unclear who will replace Blackheart at CMLL Grand Prix next week. It will be the second time CMLL has had to make a roster change after Lady Frost was fired and replaced by Masha Slamovich last week after Frost left MLW.
Wrestling Inc. would like to extend its condolences to Blackheart at this difficult time.
