After returning to WWE after losing at WrestleMania 42, CM Punk had a significantly bigger buildwhich fans first noticed in Punk’s social media posts. Due to the size he gained, some even questioned whether Punk’s body transformation was natural or not, but former WWE star David Otunga believes the veteran is just taking his body seriously.
“CM Punk has undergone a massive body transformation,” Otunga noted his YouTube channelexpressing his pride in his former Nexus friend. He then recalled being on the road at the same time as Punk during his first WWE run, and the veteran started hitting the gym with a serious mindset. “I was cringing and he came over and asked me a question and he said, “Obviously, you’ve been doing this for a long time, how come you’re not wearing a belt?”
Otunga explained that he’s never needed a belt, telling Punk the veteran is more intrigued than confused, which has stuck with him all these years later. “It surprised me because I said, “Yo, he’s really serious about this now,” Otunga recalls. “He’s humble enough and … realized that I’m a beginner in training and asked me questions where I’m obviously a beginner in wrestling; I got to ask him a lot of questions about wrestling, but he put me on hold at the gym.”
The interaction made such an impression on Otunga that he claims he’s rooting for Punk all these years and wants to see him succeed and get in shape, stating that he believes Punk is in the best shape of his life today.
