Tributes for Rick Atchberger, also known as the ‘Sign Guy’, continue to pour in on social media. News of his death spread on September 27.
Despite his occasional taunts from behind the barricade, it’s clear that Achberger has made a positive impression on the wrestlers in front of him. This includes former WWE Champion Dave Bautista, who shared his heartfelt tribute to the famous wrestling fan on Instagram.
“Best heel ever! Thanks for the laugh, friend. I’d rather have no one in the world tell me how bad I suck. See you on the road,” Bautista wrote. “#riprickachberger #wwesignguy.”
Bautista interspersed his post with photos of Achberger, in his signature red hat and blue shirt, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque. In one, Achberger can be seen holding a sign in the shape of a toilet that reads “HHH is bullshit.” In another, he and Triple H had a respectful handshake.

He was an absolute cool guy and loved talking to the fans at the shows. A few years ago, he dealt with some health problems, but last month began a rapid decline. Rest in peace.”
“Sign Guy” was recently present The May 1, 2025 edition of “WWE SmackDown.” There, R-Truth and Damian Priest retained the WWE Tag Team Championships, defeating FrAxiom. Jacob Fatu later interrupted the main event between The Usos and Solo Sikoa-Talla Tonga.
