For those of you who suffer from hemophobia, you may want to look away from the headlines about Jake Hager’s recent eye injury, as the photos/articles about it are not for the faint of heart. This past Thursday time Power Slap 23, The former AEW and WWE star suffered a very graphic slap that required him to undergo emergency eye surgery.
Patricia Blackburn, Hager’s partner, provided an update on Hager while asking the public to respect their privacy at this time; “Thank you to the UFC and the Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you have shown Jake during this difficult time. Jake is currently recovering from emergency eye surgery. You know you’re there for Jake.
At Power Slap 23 in Lubbock, Texas, Hager faced independent wrestler Johnny Magna. It was during their second round that Magna landed a vicious slap on Hager that left him bleeding from his left eye. Although Hager’s team attempted to call a foul, the officials waved it off and awarded the win to Magna (via stoppage).
Hager, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and one of AEW’s former domestic circuit toppers, joined Dana White’s Power Slap promotion last March. The semi-retired wrestler has one victory in this sport.
