Former Ring of Honor star Flip Gordon won’t wrestle for weeks, but as revealed on social media, there’s a good reason for that.
in X, Gordon announced that he had re-enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he had previously served his country.
“About a month ago, I re-enlisted in the Army National Guard because when my wife got her green card, our family only had six months to move to the United States,” he said. “With this new chapter, I realized there was something I hadn’t finished yet. When I left the military, there were a lot of goals that I couldn’t accomplish because at the same time my professional wrestling career started to take off, and I chose that dream. to finish what I started, but let me make one thing clear, that doesn’t mean my pro wrestling career is over, not even close.”
In recent years, Gordon has become a CMLL regular with his nearly 600-day reign as CMLL World Middleweight Champion. ending earlier this summer at the hands of Volador Jr. As for when fans can expect to see him back in a CMLL wrestling ring, Gordon did not give an exact date. He promised it would be “soon”.
Gordon, known as the “Super Soldier of Lucha Libre”, last competed for CMLL on August 27th at Arena Mexico City. There, he, Dragon Legendario, and Titan defeated El Tarera, Stuka Jr., and Volador Jr. in a Best Two out of Three match. Volador Jr. still reigns as the all-time CMLL World Middleweight Champion.
