I was up to my ears with personal launch monitor stories the last two weeks. We know there are hot buttons with you (subscriptions, well?). However, what makes or breaks the experience for me is what software types call “user interface”.
The idea is to make “the user experience as perfect as possible”.
Or, in plain English, make the damn thing so friggin’ simple that a doofus like me can actually use it.
On behalf of my legion of fellow doofuses, please Lord, give me a perfect user experience.
The people at FlightScope they aim to do this. The company is rolling out a new, updated and – we hope – simplified update to its FS Golf app. The idea is twofold. First, it adds a ton of new features to help you get more out of your FlightScope launch monitor. Second, start your sessions faster and with less fuss.
Let’s take a look at the other thing that gives you excitement (subscriptions, well?) in a bit. First, though, let’s dissect the new FlightScope FS Golf App.

The updated FS Golf app: What’s new?
If you already use the FS Golf app for a FlightScope launch monitor, such as the Mevo Gen2 (a MyGolfSpy “Staff Choice” in 2025 tests) or Mevo +, you will appreciate the new features. If you’re in the market for a personal launch monitor, all we can say is that the app makes a big difference in your experience.
The previous version of the FS Golf app was functional. Some of the machinations you had to go through, however, could be a bit hinky. This new version smooths those out considerably.

The interface has been redesigned to be more graphic and colorful. It has also been simplified into broader categories. The Practice section covers Full Swing, Short Game, Swing Training, Putting, Gapping and Challenges. The previous version had separate tabs for each.
The video section has been cleaned up, simplified and added. One of the most interesting (and underutilized) features of the Mevo Gen2 is its ability to record your swing. The Gen2 uses FlightScope unique combination of a dual camera matrix and radar to capture your data. Since the unit is in line with your swing, one of the cameras can pull double duty and record video. You can create shared galleries of your recorded swings and session data. You can compare your swings side by side. There is a feature called FS Tracer (not new, but still interesting) that overlays the shooting trajectory in real time onto your video.

Goals, environments and visibility
If you’ve ever used a launch monitor outside on a sunny day, you know how difficult it can be to see your phone or tablet screen. To this end, the new FS Golf app features a new Light Mode feature for clearer visibility.
The new app lets you go nuts when creating your practice environment. You can change the angle of the virtual camera from low to high and you can also change the sky. You can choose clear, cloudy, golden hour or night, or you can simply have it match the time of day you practice. If you are so inclined, you can choose trees or pines in the background and you can change the environment suddenly from grass to covering the bays with mats.

None of this makes the unit more accurate, but it does make it fun.
There’s also something new called Data Margins that lets you set success ranges for different metrics and skill levels. (You’ll need the Pro Package for this which we’ll get into in a sec.)
The new app will also allow you to normalize shot data. This means you can remove wind effects during live sessions or even from past sessions. As always, you can select the location in which you use yours FlightScope so it takes into account the current altitude and weather conditions. You can also customize it for the type of dance you are into.

Also, if you use FlightScope’s i4 rangefinder, you can link it to your FS Golf account and the rangefinder will use all your data to make club recommendations. It also takes current wind, weather and elevation into consideration when making these recommendations.
About subscriptions
We know subscriptions are a hot button. No one likes to pay extra to use something you already bought. We will dive deeper into subscriptions in the coming days but wanted to share FlightScope offers. They can surprise you.
Let’s use the Mevo Gen2 as an example. It’s $1,299 to buy the unit. So you get a ton of data without subscriptions or additional fees. Metrics included include carry, roll and total distance, ball speed, club speed, Smash Factor, launch angle, spin, spin axis, apex height, flight time, landing angle, angle of attack, spin loft, tip type and shot dispersion. There are also four additional metrics to fit the analysis.
Additionally, FlightScope gives you full (and permanent) access to eight home golf simulator courses through E6 Connect.
For $1,299, this is a pretty robust package.

If you want more, FlightScope’s optional Pro package gives you club path, fairway face, target face, dynamic loft, vertical and horizontal swing plane (a pretty slick feature), low point, club speed profile and club acceleration profile. That package brings a one time fee of $699.
There is an additional Face Impact Location package for a one-time fee of $350. That gives you side and vertical impact plus a heat map.
FlightScope sells both as a package for $975,
So for $2,275 you get a robust and accurate launch monitor with more metrics than most of us would know what to do with plus eight lanes for your simulator.
No annual subscription.
FlightScope offers additional E6 course simulation packages. The 12-course bundle (with Pebble and the Old Course) is a one-time fee of $250. Other packages include more courses but require an annual subscription ranging from $300 to $600.

Final thoughts
The new FlightScope FS Golf app represents a solid upgrade. If you already have a FlightScope, you will find the app easier to navigate and make the video tools much easier to use.
If you are in the market for a personal launch monitor, remember that the app is a big part of the usability of what you end up buying. They’re all free to download, so it’s up to you to take a look and see what features are included as part of your purchase decision.
