England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will undergo another scan on his hamstring injury Newcastle Red Bulls two weeks ago, which will prevent him from traveling to Exeter Chiefs Bristol Bears on Saturday afternoon.
Bosses Boss Rob Baxter admits England’s medical team will have the final say on when Feyi-Waboso, who has an enhanced playing contract, will play again.
Baxter says he is happy with his progress and hopes to play against Harlequins next weekend, but England are back in action against Australia in the championship of nations, they are more cautious.
“I mean, he’s been running pretty fast, but it’s hard for me to say (when he’ll play) probably because I think we’re really happy with his progress. England is probably a bit more safety-first, so we’re there and that’s where he is.”
“England’s physios work regularly with Jamie Fulton, our head physio. He’s improving; he’s running around quite well at a decent pace.”
“He will have another scan at the weekend and that will help make the next decision about where things go next week,” said Baxter, who has multiple back-three problems.
Tommy Wyatt, who has just recovered from back-to-back ACL injuries, faces being sidelined with an ankle injury Toulouse in the Champions Cup.
“Tommy’s ankle injury is more significant. He’s done a decent job. There’s a couple of ligaments stretched and pulled and bitten, but I think the initial prognosis is that it’s inoperable. That’s something that’s not possible.”
“So he should be back either late in the PREM Cup period or when we come back to the Premiership, hopefully, if things go well. So again it was another significant injury to a full-back, which we seem to be agreeing on quite quickly,” he added.
